Fall is here and we’ve got a full calendar of activities to keep you moving, laughing, and making memories all month long!  Check out what’s coming up and where you can find Parks and Recreation this October.  And don’t forget to register where needed:

🏈 Youth Sports & Active Fun

  • Flag Football Wrap-UpMonday, Oct. 13
  • Volleyball Wrap-UpTuesday, Oct. 14
    We’ve had a tremendous season of youth programs this fall.  Stop by and cheer on these future Panthers in their final action of the seaon!
  • Girls Basketball (3rd–6th Grade) – Begins Monday, Oct. 27

  • After School Run Club – Every Thursday in October, 3:30–5:00 PM at Dean Nelson Field
    NEW! Does your child love running or just need a space to burn off energy after school?  Join Milo and the group for weekly runs, skill building, and fun.  Carpenter students can catch the bus to the middle school, then walk to the track as a group.  Spots are limited.   • After School Pickleball for KidsWednesday, Oct. 8
    Local experts will share their knowledge with kids after school at the pickleball courts.  No equipment needed. Ages 6-10 from 1:30-2:30 and Ages 11-18 from 2:30-3:30.  Cost: FREE

  • Chicago Slow Pitch League Ending TournamentSunday, Oct. 12
    Another successful Chicago 16” Slow Pitch season wraps up with the annual tournament at Johnson Park. Stop by to take in the action—and maybe we’ll see you with a team next year! 😊
  • Co-Ed Volleyball RegistrationEnds Tuesday, Oct. 21

  • Sit & Get Fit – Every Thursday morning, 8:30–9:30 AM
    Join us for this fun, low-impact class to stretch, strengthen, and get moving. Cost: FREE
  • Haunted Story Walk (with Monticello Public Library)Friday, Oct. 3
    A FUNdraiser event for all ages! Choose between a family-friendly walk or a spooky woods adventure.  All proceeds support Friends of Monticello Parks & Rec and Friends of the Monticello Library.  Cost: Free-Will Donation
  • Line Dancing with Scott StranSunday, Oct. 5 at 4:30 PM at the Berndes Center
    Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, Scott makes it fun for all.  Cost: Free-Will Donation
  • Coffee & CardsTuesday, Oct. 14 at 9 AM (and every 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Berndes Center)
    Bring your favorite mug, your favorite card game, and a friend—or meet new ones!  Cost: FREE
  • Family Disney Trivia NightMonday, Oct. 20
    A night for the whole family to test your Disney knowledge and compete for bragging rights! Cost: FREE
  • Treats on the StreetsThursday, Oct. 23, 5–7 PM
    Monticello’s annual downtown trick-or-treat night.  Dress up, bring a bag, and enjoy!

🌿 Special Series

  • Walk & Learn: Foraging AdventureTuesday, Oct. 15 at 4 PM at Central Park
    Join Jones County Conservation for the final session of our walk-and-learn series.  Explore edible wild plants, try something new, and enjoy time outdoors.  Cost: FREE
