Join Us for a Tree Planting Event on Friday, September 27th!
On Friday, September 27th, we will embark on an exciting community-wide tree planting event, and we need your help! We’ll be planting a total of 110 trees across various locations in Monticello. Thanks to the Trees for Kids grant, the day will kick off with our local 3rd-grade class, who will be planting 24 trees at the Fairgrounds. This initiative will not only help beautify our parks but also teach our young students the importance of environmental stewardship.
For the remainder of the day, we’re looking for 10-15 volunteers to help plant the remaining 86 trees at several locations, including the Cemetery, Johnson Park, Riverside, Baty Disc Golf Course, Jacobs Park, and Fountain Park/Austin Smith Playground. The best part? The hard work will already be done—the holes for the trees will be pre-dug! Your role will be to help place the trees and get them settled in their new homes.
These trees are being provided through the Community Forestry Grant Program, which focuses on planting on public lands.
Event Details:
- Date: Friday, September 27th
- Start Time: 12:00 PM (with the 3rd-grade tree planting at the Fairgrounds)
- Volunteer Shifts: Join us for a few hours or stay the whole day—every bit helps!
Come be a part of this wonderful community effort. By planting trees, we’re investing in the future of Monticello, enhancing the beauty of our parks, and creating a lasting impact for generations to come.
